Actually, yes. We DO need latches. With the doors on it was the obvious next step.
They’re super easy to put in, but fiddly when it comes to the rods and clips.
Plus there’s not a LOT of access into the door, as evidenced by my now scratched up hands and wrists.
But hey, they latch closed!
Then I decided to get F A N C Y
Yup, installed both handles, adjusted the doors a bit and:
Good old 1970's Slam Them Shut Action.
I even put in the lock rods & knobs, so I can... lock.. my windowless doors....
I have the lock cylinders as well, but no key that fits them. I’ll have to worry about that some other day.
Now, about installing that glass...

The driver’s door, at current time, does not open from the inside. Much Dukes Of Hazzarding will occur if need be.

Both of my locks are broken, but in entirely different ways.
Not exactly the reassuring german door slam is it? More like the airplane hanger door slam.

Its a familiar slam. Its weird having a lot of the experiences I haven’t had since I was 18 years old with this car.

I know, right? it’s now been almost 3 years since I’ve driven mine. It had such a unique feeling and I am really missing it.
